MORALE:
a must in the workplace
Every employee should feel as if they are part of
your team. As team members, we are all affected by the attitudes,
behaviors, and performances of other co-workers.
There may be time when the morale of a teammate may not be up to par. It is
your responsibility to try to
bolster that sagging
spirit.
This quiz will give you some idea of how effective you are at boosting team
morale.
1. Are you interested in doing whatever you can to
keep team morale up at all times?
YES NO
2. Without getting into an argument, do you
reflexively counter other people’s negative statements?
YES NO
3. Do you try to encourage other people by
modeling appropriate behavior?
YES NO
4. Are you quick to assure disenchanted team members
of your willingness to help them whenever needed?

5. Do you intervene quickly when you see morale
sagging, before it becomes a downward spiral?

YES NO
10. Do you point out that if management didn’t think
your team could handle a challenging job, they wouldn’t have assigned
it in the first place?
YES NO
If you answered YES to each of the above
questions, then you are the person the group depends on to keep the mood
positive and productive. But if your score is lower, you may want to
reconsider your attitude in the workplace.
Try increasing positive statements made
toward co-workers. Set goals for yourself
and work on one weak point every day.
Observing the new and improved team morale will encourage both you and your
team!
